From humble beginnings...

How the Jollie Campers came to be

Chapter 1: Kevin

Meet Kevin. Kevin is a van. But he isn’t just any van—he's the van. The very first Jollie Camper to roll out, setting the wheels in motion for what was to become a whole new adventure.

The story begins in 2020, on my mum's driveway—where, much to her dismay, this solo project came to life. I was backed by a friend (let's call him Jake, because, well, that's his name), who was living across the pond in America during the pandemic.

After countless late-night video calls, enough Google searches to break the internet, and more brainstorming than we’d like to admit, Jollie Campers—and Kevin—were officially born.

Chapter 2: A little crowded

Once Kevin found his new owner, Jake returned from his American adventure, and we launched our business with plenty of enthusiasm! Our first winning formula was a Ford Transit Connect microcamper. Velma (dark blue) led the way, followed by Fizz (bright blue), and a handful of others.

Things were going well—until our parents’ patience gave out. Driveways were packed, van dust covered everything, and neighbors’ passive-aggressive stares became a little too frequent. It was clear we had outgrown the home setup. Time to find a place of our own!

And that we did!

Chapter 3: Rust, leeks and a bit of drama

You may have been wondering, "Why on Earth is there a rusty container on a camper conversion website?" That, my dear Jollie Campers, was our first official unit.

Yes, it was full of rust and leaks, and at one point we wondered if the place was trying to sabotage us, but to us, it was perfect. We got to work, building our resources (and vans) one step at a time. We refined our craft, kept innovating, and then—disaster struck... Jake remembered he had an IT degree! Sadly, Jake left the daily campervan grind behind, staying on as our website guru and close friend in a hope to chase his dreams of tapping buttons and watching me write out poorly worded stories for our website.

Chapter 4: What now?

Enter Coxon. If you haven’t checked out the "Jollie Squad" page of our site, he’s the man expertly wielding a carrot.

Soon thereafter, we took on Ben, who can be seen professionally using a banana for a drill.

As our team expanded, so did our projects. Bigger builds, better designs, and yes—more staff to manage it all. But with more customers and larger vans, our beloved rust bucket of a unit couldn’t keep up with the demand or the freezing winters. So, we bid it a fond farewell and upgraded to our first real workspace. (Apologies to the rust bucket, but it was time.)

We packed up two customers’ vans, our own van, a classic car, my Land Rover, and three van loads of materials, tools, and dreams, and moved into our forever home... Until we moved again 10 months later to where we are now.

Chapter 5: A Jollie ending

Every good story deserves a happy ending, and the Jollie Campers story is no different.

As we shifted our focus to bigger, more ambitious designs, we welcomed a new recruit—Bailey—who can be seen stuck under a van donning a gorgeous clear visor. He quickly became invaluable to the team. Specializing in electrics, carpentry, cabinet making, and, of course, expert coffee making, Bailey brought an extra level of craftsmanship (and caffeine) to our projects.

We embraced a blend of space, beauty, and functionality—with a healthy dose of bespoke craftsmanship and creativity and we’re incredibly proud of how far we've come from those driveway days. We wouldn’t have changed a thing.

Here’s to the years of happy customers, stunning campervans, and countless Jollie adventures to come!

Still here? You read our whole story? congratulations!

As a special prize for reading this far, here's a joke...

Why was the vanlifer rushing? Because they had to Motor Home.

Ugh.
